Favorite Home Remedy Recipes (for When You’re Sick)

Raw Honey Garlic

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 Tbs raw honey

Instructions

  1. Mince the garlic
  2. Wait and let it sit for 3-5 minutes to make sure it’s the most potent. (When you mince garlic an enzyme called alliinase is released. That enzyme turns the alliin into allicin. Allicin is the compound that is antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and an antioxidant).
  3. Mix in the raw honey to coat the garlic
  4. Eat it! I like to just swallow a small spoonful at a time (almost like it’s a pill). The honey coats the garlic and actually makes it taste fine! This was an old remedy my best friends grandparents always used.

Fresh Ginger Honey Tea

You can buy pre-made ginger tea in a bag, but making your own is way more potent and healing!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp Fresh ginger
  • Boiling (filtered) water
  • 1 tsp raw honey

Instructions

  1. Turn your water on to start heating up
  2. Optional: peel the ginger if you don’t plan to strain it out at the end (if you really love ginger). The easiest way to peel it is to take a regular metal spoon and use the edge to scrape the outside of the ginger. The skin will come right off!
  3. Grate the fresh ginger and add to a mug.
  4. Add the boiling water and let it sit for 10 minutes
  5. Optional: filter out the ginger by pouring it through a fine mesh strainer or tea infuser. You can also leave the ginger right in the tea and eat it!
  6. Add the raw honey and mix it in until it’s melted.
  7. Enjoy!

Warm Honey Cinnamon ACV Drink

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbs Raw Honey
  • 1 Tbs Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • Boiling (Filtered) Water
  • Cold/Room Temperature (Filtered) Water

Instructions

  1. Add 1 Tbs of raw honey and a cinnamon stick to a glass mug (see tips below).
  2. Add boiling water to fill about half the glass and stir until the honey is melted and the cinnamon starts to infuse into the water.
  3. Add cold/room temperature water to the rest of the glass (at this point you will have a honey & cinnamon warm water)
  4. Now add 1 Tbs of apple cider vinegar and stir
  5. Sip & Enjoy!

Tip: We like to use heat proof glass mugs/cups for this recipe because ACV is acidic and some enamel mugs contain metal elements (such as lead). Putting something acidic in them can cause the metal elements to leach into your drink. We choose to use glass just to play it safe!

Tip: You can also use powdered cinnamon if you don’t have cinnamon sticks, but it doesn’t mix well with liquid and tends to just float on top.

Tip: Make sure to add the apple cider vinegar at the end because adding it to boiling water and exposing it to such a high temperature can kill the beneficial bacteria.

Tip: You can add more or less apple cider vinegar depending on how strong you want your drink to be.
